With an international reputation of being a knowledge-based economy, the Indian government is striving hard to meet global expectations. But in pursuit of excellence, the dice of OET have moved across the city of Jamnagar to now bring it up on the map of the world that Jamnagar excels in Education too.
India, once the land of universities like Takshashila and Nalanda, saw a complete paradigm change in its education sector under the British Raj. The genesis of Indian Education, as we know it today can be traced back to the early 20th century when the British introduced the idea of western education in India. The support of reformist politicians, with the goal of the emancipation of the Indian masses at heart, led to the inception of primary, secondary, and tertiary schools and colleges in India.
On 14th March 1981, a charitable trust named Oshwal Education Trust ventured into the field of Education to undertake the great task of setting up an all English medium institution to provide quality education to the students of Jamnagar.
Jamnagar, then, was a small progressive town and a business hub but did not have any proper educational institutions to cater to the varied requirements of the natives. Shri Jaysukhbhai Hathi voiced the feelings of many concerned parents of Jamnagar about a dearth of educational facilities and the urgent need of the people to bridge the demand and supply mismatch for an English Education Center Shri Lakhamshi Govindji Haria was quick to respond and declared a donation of Rs. Eleven lacs. This amount has today metamorphosed into a full-fledged Higher Secondary School catering to the needs of nearly 2500 students from playhouse to Higher Secondary.
The Mahantshree of Anandabava Ashram Shri Devprasad Maharajshree inaugurated the Kindergarten school on Dec 4, 1981. The plot was acquired and in June 1986 the construction of the school building was started and 440 students were enrolled.
As years went by and realizing requirements of the people of Jamnagar and nearby areas the Oshwal Education Trust established Shri Gosar Hansraj Gosrani College of Commerce and Shri Dharamshi Devraj Nagda BBA College in June 1998. This was followed by the approval granted by AICTE in 2000 to start the MBA program under Shri Jaysukhlal Vadhar Institute of Management Studies.
Keeping in view the needs of the modern generation, the Trust started Smt. Chandramaniben Zaverchand Meghji Gosrani BCA College in 2003, followed by starting Shri Zaverchand Mulchand Shah PTC college with hostel facilities for both Boys and Girls. Soon after this in 2006 the PGDCA course was launched. The Trust then ventured into starting Shri Keshavji Bharmal Sumaria MCA college in 2008. Looking into the present scenario and the craze for CBSE School, the dynamic management of the Trust has decided to set up CBSE School for the betterment of education from the academic year 2014-2015. The Trust has decided to start LKG, UKG, and std, 1st to 4th under the name of Haria Global School.
Then the consecutive years 2016 and 2017 respectively were great initiatives by GHG DDN College by starting the first-ever Study Centre of Company Secretary in Saurashtra, Gujarat. It manages C.S. Study Centre under the aegis of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India followed by opening M. Com College. Very recently in 2019, the Trust has spearheaded by starting Smt. Manjulaben Keshavji Meghji Gosrani LLB College.
Thus, you would see that the Trust launched all the premium specialized under graduation courses under its vanguard to meet the educational requirements of students from various walks of life with diverse areas of interest and ambition. With management programs ranging from diplomas in computer application to master and Post-Graduation diplomas in various disciplines, Oshwal Education Trust is set out to meet an overall professional education requirement for the youth.
